Fatal Accident in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A 70-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a fatal accident on Highway 6 in Orangeburg County according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Officials say Laymon Davis was charged with felony DUI in connection with the accident. Troopers say Davis and an unidentified motorcyclist were driving down Highway 6 around 6:50pm Saturday when they collided with each other. Davis was sent to the Orangeburg County Detention Center. He was later released on $5,000 bond. Authorities say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet in the accident. It is also not known if Davis was wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and MAIT.
