The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced seven people were killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, January 20, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 22, at midnight. Year to date, 47 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 30 vehicular deaths in this same time period in 2011. A large percentage of these accident occurred on secondary roads, which follows the report last year of South Carolina's deadly rural roads.
