Preeclampsia, Fetal Distress & Delayed Delivery/Child Brain Injury

A pregnant mother close to term had signs and symptoms of a condition known as preeclampsia, which includes high blood pressure. Despite the repeated signs and symptoms during pregnancy, her obstetrician never diagnosed the condition while she was in his clinic. The preeclampsia, and her condition worsened, and by the time the mother was later admitted to the hospital to deliver her baby, the fetus was already suffering the effects from preeclampsia, including lack of oxygen, but proper steps were not taken for this condition or to deliver the baby timely. The child was found to have brain injury due to lack of oxygen at the time of labor and delivery (HIE), and brain injury after birth; he was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Mark Clore tried the case to verdict, and the jury delivered a large verdict in favor of the family and child.
