Misinterpretation of Cardiac SPECT Scan
A middle-aged man who was having shortness of breath and had a family history of heart disease, saw a cardiologist for this condition. The doctor ordered and interpreted a cardiac SPECT scan, which uses a radioactive dye and imaging scan to see if there are any problems with blood going through the heart arteries. The cardiologist interpreted the scan as normal when, in reality, the scan showed areas where there was a lack of blood flow in the heart. Months later, while exercising, the man suffered a heart attack and cardiac arrest, leading to severe brain damage. Clore Law Group, LLC successfully settled the case confidentially on the man’s behalf.
