Did you know it was Brake Safety Week? The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance announced that inadequate or improper brake maintenance is the number one reason for vehicles to be placed out of service during Brake Safety Week. The CVSA's press release stated there are hundreds of thousands of commercial vehicles that are neglected and poorly maintained. When brake failure occurs on vehicles of this size, the resulting accident can be catastrophic. When poor maintenance causes an accident, the driver and or the trucking company may be held liable for the resulting injuries. Brake Inspections

Part of Brake Safety Week is an ongoing program named Operation Air Brake. The goal is to make commercial vehicles safer by educating manufacturers and drivers about air brake system safety in an effort to improve maintenance and achieve regulatory compliance. The efforts of this non-profit organization are admirable and exposes an unfortunate fact: many drivers and carriers are not properly maintaining their vehicles. Brake malfunction can be avoid when it is a result of poor maintenance. In the event of brake part failure, there may no way to predict a truck accident. Either way, you will need an experienced truck accident attorney to seek the compensation you will need for medical treatment, as well as pain and suffering.
